Fatah calls Israeli raids on TV stations "state terrorism"

February 17, 2014 at 11:15 pm

A spokesman for Fatah’s Office of Information and Culture, Ahmed Assaf, has described Israel’s raids on the Watan and Al-Quds TV stations as “state terrorism” and a violation of international laws that guarantee freedom of information. In a media statement, Mr. Assaf said, “The attacks carried out by the Israeli occupation forces on the Watan and Al-Quds TV stations are crimes and state terrorism not only against Palestinian media outlets that work according to the Palestinian law, but also against the principles of freedom and democracy and the international conventions that guarantee the freedom of opinion and expression in any country in the world.”

Assaf called upon the international community to take Israeli terrorism seriously, particularly as it has taken place at a time of serious attacks by extremist Jewish settlers on places of worship and Palestinian culture and heritage. He warned of the consequences of the Israelis’ actions and urged Palestinians to mobilise in order to keep the world informed of such attacks.
