At least four Palestinian civilians were killed on Saturday evening, and more were wounded, by Israeli tank fire. The incident took place after an incursion by an Israeli military jeep, during which it was targeted by Palestinians defending their land in Al-Zaytoun on the east of the Gaza Strip.
Two of the dead were identified by a spokesman for the Ministry of Health as Ahmed al-Derdsawi, 18, and Mohammed Hararah, aged just 17. The other two fatalities were too badly mutilated to identify when they were admitted to Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza.
A least thirty people were wounded in the Israeli attack. Witnesses said that many children and the elderly are among the victims because the tank fired into a densely-populated area. A number of the wounded have lost their limbs, medical sources said.
