Israeli aircraft have carried out an unprovoked attack on Palestinians in Gaza City. The attack in broad daylight targeted two activists travelling in their car on Thursday afternoon.

Palestinian medical sources confirmed that two civilians were killed in the attack; six others were injured, including a woman and an infant. The charred and mangled bodies of the victims were taken to Al-Shifa Hospital where they were named as Essam Subhi al-Batsh and his nephew Ala’a al-Batsh from the district of Tufah.

Israel confirmed that it carried out the attack, claiming that it had struck against a group of “terrorists planning further terrorism”. The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) said that one of the victims was a member of its military resistance wing, the Izzaddin Al-Qassam Brigades.
