An officer in the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) has revealed that the country is preparing for a “large Gaza operation to take place within the next few months”.
Speaking to the Jerusalem Post, the senior officer said that the IDF General Staff has ordered the Southern Command to finalise operational plans and distribute them among all units which will be deployed in Gaza. “Gaza is possibly Israel’s most volatile front today,” he explained. “It’s a front that can explode at any moment.”
In a related context, on Tuesday in Ashkelon the IDF Home Front Command held a drill for action to be taken in the aftermath of a missile explosion.
