Israeli tanks open fire at Palestinian farmers in Gaza

February 17, 2014 at 1:49 am

Israeli tanks have opened fire at Palestinian farmers to the east of Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip. No casualties were reported but the farmers were obliged to leave their fields for their own safety. The attack was yet another breach of the ceasefire agreed between Israel and Hamas last November.

The Hamas-led government in Gaza said that it is maintaining a disciplined response to such breaches. It has informed the ceasefire’s Egyptian mediators about every Israeli violation of the terms of the agreement.

However, without going into details, it has warned that it will not tolerate more attacks against its civilian population.
