February 17, 2014 at 1:49 am

Israeli security forces have made a sweep of cities in the occupied West Bank and detained 11 Palestinians. The Israelis used vehicles equipped with anti-missile weapons during the operation and fired tear gas at onlookers.

Although they intended to destroy a home in Bayt Liqya belonging to a prisoner being held in one of their jails, the Israelis did not, in the end, do anything.

The names of those from Qaryout village near Nablus who were detained have been confirmed as Ahmed Amer, aged 25; Aysar Ayesh, 21; Adham Mosa, 22; Abdo Kassab, 23; Ahmed Badawi, 22; and Ahmed Issa, 18. Two others arrested by the Israelis in the village of Assira near Nablus, were named as Basim Taleb, 32 and Rabei Sawalheh, 24. In Bethlehem, meanwhile, they arrested 22 year old Nemer Taqatqeh. University student Yaish Kabha, 22, from Ya’bad near Jenin, was also detained. Witnesses said that the Israelis forced Kabha’s relatives to leave their house and searched it.

In the Gaza Strip, a number of Israeli tanks entered the eastern areas of Khan Younis in the south of the besieged territory. Locals reported that it was a limited incursion and nobody was hurt. The tanks took up positions around Palestinian farms in the district.
