Jewish settlers cut down 250 olive trees in west Ramallah

Jewish settlers have cut down 250 olive trees belonging to Palestinians from the village of Beitillu, west of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.

In a telephone statement to the local media, Hajj Fawzi Dar Bazaar said that he was surprised to see the destroyed trees when he was on his way with his family to work on his land on Monday morning. “The attack took place on my land and neighbouring land,” he told Quds Press. “This has been done several times by the settlers from the illegal Nahaliel settlement.” The Israeli colony is also built on land belonging to villagers from Beitillu.

“The Jewish settlers are trying to force Palestinian farmers to leave the land adjacent to the settlement,” Hajj Fawzi added, “so that they can annex it and build new settlement units on it.”

All Israeli settlements on Palestinian land are illegal under international law, which the Israeli government treats with contempt.
