Meshaal meets with Emir of Qatar to prepare for visit to Jordan

The head of Hamas has met with the Emir of Qatar in order to prepare for a joint visit to Jordan with the Gulf country’s Crown Prince. Khaled Meshaal had a meeting with Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani on Tuesday in the Qatari capital Doha. Sources have been advising for the past couple of weeks that he will go to Amman soon with Crown Prince Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, where they will hold meetings with King Abdullah II and the Jordanian government. The visit is expected to take place before the weekend.

According to Palestinian media sources, the Emir and Mr Meshaal discussed the latest developments in Palestine, including an update on national reconciliation between Hamas and Fatah and the outcome of the meeting between Meshaal and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Cairo last week. The sources also noted that Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister had meetings with Mr. Meshaal.
