On Wednesday, Islamist deputies in Ramallah met with the Archbishop of the Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, Atallah Hanna, within the framework of an extensive solidarity campaign for the Jerusalemite Deputy, Ahmed Atwan, who was expelled by the Israelis to Ramallah.

The Deputies welcomed Archbishop Hanna extoling the Islamic-Christian affiliation of the Palestinian people and emphasizing the strength and durability of their relationship.

In a statement to the media, the Deputies thanked the Archbishop asserting that, “Archbishop Hanna’s gesture is a symbol of the relationship between Muslims and Christians, particularly given that the Archbishop is one of the religious faces of the Roman Orthodox Patriarchate in Occupied Jerusalem.”

The Archbishop was received by a parliamentary delegation consisting of the Deputy for the district of Ramallah, Abd al-Jaber Fuqaha, the Deputy for Jerusalem, Wael al-Husseini, and Ahmed Atwan.

Archbishop Hanna also recently visited the solidarity tent set up in the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood of Jerusalem for the Palestinian Deputies who are currently threatened with expulsion by the Israeli occupation from their native city.
