Members of the Palestinian Elections Central Committee arrived in Gaza on Wednesday and met the Palestinian Prime Minister, Ismail Haniyeh, when “positive” discussions took place.

The head of the Committee, Hanna Naser, said that most outstanding problems regarding the registration process in Gaza were figured out during the meeting. “Updating the election records will start soon,” he said.

Other meetings are scheduled to be held with the Palestinian factions in Gaza, including Hamas.

Nasser said that staff at the Palestinian ministry of education and the interior ministry was going to help the Elections Committee carry out its mission. He is scheduled to hold meetings with officials in the two ministries to arrange the measures needed.

The members of the Committee who met Ismail Haniyeh headed directly to their main office in Gaza after the end of the meeting.
