Palestinians throughout the occupied territories have condemned the response of the United Nations and International Red Cross to the life-threatening dangers facing thousands of prisoners on hunger strike in Israeli jails.

Protesters staged vigils in front of the headquarters of the UNDP, UNESCO and Red Cross in Gaza, obstructing their operations for several hours.

Relatives of Palestinian prisoners and their supporters accused the international organizations of gross negligence and disregard for the lives of 6,000 Palestinian prisoners. They stressed the need for a more concerted and robust international effort to end the inhuman treatment of the prisoners and safeguard their right to live in dignity.
