Students attending secondary schools in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip have started their end of year examinations.

Out of consideration for the students sitting exams, and in appreciation of their importance, the Palestinian government in Gaza did its best to ensure that a quiet atmosphere prevailed, which was conducive to education. Noisy street concerts and suchlike were prohibited.

The Palestinian Prime Minster in Gaza, Ismail Haniyeh, the Speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council, the Minister of Education and other officials have been visiting schools to make sure that students are well and the exams are going smoothly.

Mr Haniyeh also issued orders to the Ministry of the of Interior to provide security for students and their exam papers; in addition, the Ministry of Health was asked to be on standby to provide good healthcare for students and staff in all educational institutions.

There was much praise for such efforts from ordinary people, who are hoping and praying for good results for their children.
