PLO factions call for an end to attacks on Palestinians in Syria

The PLO factions in Syria have condemned the killing of a number of young Palestinians from the refugee camps around Aleppo. They were murdered after being kidnapped on their way to the camps from the Palestinian Liberation Army training centre in Masyaf.

In a press statement issued on Thursday, 12 July, the factions called for an end to Palestinians being targeted for fighting for their national cause, their right of return and resistance to the Israeli occupation. The statement said that targeting any Palestinian “is intended to weaken their resistance against the Israeli occupation and weaken their ongoing struggle to return to their homes”.

The killings were confirmed by Syrian sources, which said that sixteen soldiers from the Palestinian Liberation Army were killed on Wednesday. The sources confirmed that the young men were on leave and travelling to spend the holidays with their families when they were kidnapped and killed.
