Red Cross spokesman: "No information about Gaza prisoners' visits"

The International Committee of the Red Cross in the Gaza Strip has said that it has not received any information from the Israeli authorities regarding visit schedules for Gazan prisoners in Israeli jails.

The Committee confirmed that it is in touch with the authorities concerned, as well as with the prisoners families.

Since 2007, the Israeli Authorities had suspended all family visits for the 475 Gazan prisoners in their custody. However, three weeks ago, they agreed to allow the resumption of these visits following an Egypt brokered agreement with the prisoners' leadership to end their 28-day hunger strike.

Ayman Al-Shehabi, spokesman of the Red Cross in Gaza, said the organization "does not have any information regarding the resumption of family visits for Gazan prisoners in the Israeli jails."

He confirmed that the Red Cross agent carries out visits to Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails to check on their general condition, especially their health, and also visits the families of prisoners to update them.
