Solidarity activities for the hunger strike prisoners have gathered pace with the establishment of camps in cities across the occupied West Bank.

Several prisoners have now passed 60 days on hunger strike in protest against the policies of the Israeli prison authorities, particularly that of solitary confinement.

The camps are frequented around the clock by relatives and leading national figures of all political persuasion. Observers point out that the prisoner issue has united Palestinians in the West Bank in manner not witnessed for many years.

In a new development, a number of relatives, including mothers, have also begun hunger strikes in solidarity with their sons.
