Tunisia's Attorney General to sue Abu-Jihad's assassins

February 17, 2014 at 11:20 pm

The Tunisian Attorney General has officially adopted a lawsuit filed by the ‘Wafaa Movement’ to investigate the assassination of the prominent leader of the Fatah Movement, Khalil al-Wazeer, an official Tunisian source said on Tuesday.

Salim Bookhtheer, a member of the Executive Bureau of ‘Wafaa’, confirmed the news to Quds Press.

Bokhtheer said that his movement had filed the lawsuit based on the 1970 International Convention, which regards political assassinations as war crimes regardless of how long ago they were committed.

The same source, confirmed earlier that ‘Wafaa’ intended to sue Israel and its aides in Tunisia for the assassination of the Palestinian leader, also known as Abu-Jihad, who was assassinated in Tunis in 1988.

Last week, the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, for the first time, revealed information about the identity of the commander of the Israeli commando unit which assassinated Abu-Jihad.
