14,000 new births recorded in Gaza over the last two months

Statistics released by Gaza’s General Administration for Civil Affairs at the Ministry of Interior and National Security confirm that 14,590 births were recorded in Gaza during the third quarter of this year. 7,420 of these were males and 7,170 were female. The Administration stated that “During the period between the beginning of July and the end of September this year, the Gaza Strip has witnessed an average of 158 new births every day.”

The Civil Affairs Administration stated that there had been 2,636 male births in the Gaza district; 1,279 in the northern districts; 1,070 in the central district; 1,476 in the Khan Younis district; and 959 in the Rafah district. It also stated that there had been 2,549 female births in the Gaza district; 1216 in the northern district; 1011 in the central district; 1479 in the Khan Younis district; and 915 in the Rafah district.


862 overall deaths occurred in Gaza during the same period; from the beginning of July until September. 491 of these have been male and 371 have been female. According to the Civil Affairs Administration; “During this period, the Gaza Strip has witnessed an average of 9 deaths per day.”

The administration said that among males, there had been 171 deaths in the Gaza district; 84 in the northern district; 75 in the central district; 94 in Khan Younis; and 67 in Rafah. Among females there had been 145 deaths in the Gaza district; 66 in the northern district; 60 in the central district; 53 in Khan Younis; and 47 in Rafah.
