Ashkenazi complains of Zionists dodging military service

February 20, 2014 at 3:30 pm

The Israeli Army Chief of Staff, Gabi Ashkenazi, has called for all young people who hold what he called ‘citizenship’ in Israel, to be compelled into doing ‘military service’ for the state. This call follows a rise in the phenomenon of Zionist youths evading conscription into the army.

During a tour of a recruitment centre on Sunday (25.07.2010), Ashkenazi said; “Whoever does not wish to perform service in the ranks of the military, then it is possible to do so in any other place… in the police or ‘the Red Star of David’ – ambulances, the fire service and within other such institutions… however, with regard to recruitment, for the situation to remain as it is currently is both intolerable and impossible.”

It is worth mentioning that Hebrew media sources have recently announced a drop in the percentage of Zionist youths willing to join military units as combatants in armoured vehicles, the air force or on interior fronts as well as other military units.
