On Thursday 12.05.2011 and in a first of its kind event in the West Bank, 22 special needs couples celebrated their wedding in a collective ceremony in Nablus. The ceremony was attended by a large gathering of people including the relatives of the couples as well as deputies from the Palestinians Legislative Council.
The couples, who were from cities from across the West Bank, all suffer from different disabilities. This ceremony is a positive gesture toward this important group within society and particularly affirms their social rights represented through marriage.
It is worth mentioning that this ceremony was held under the auspices of the United Arab Emirates and under the supervision of a charitable organisation. The ceremony had the slogan ‘disability cannot overcome will power’.
