Dahlan approaches Europeans to mediate with Abbas on his behalf

An Egyptian journalist has claimed that Palestinian MP Mohamed Dahlan asked "his European friends to mediate between himself and President Mahmoud Abbas". Ibrahim Al-Darrawy, a specialist in Palestinian Affairs said that the request came after Arab mediation had failed. The information, it is claimed, comes from "trusted" sources.

According to Al-Darrawy, the member of Fatah's Central Committee asked some European diplomats to put pressure on PA President Mahmoud Abbas because Dahlan says he has a new plan to evict Hamas from the political scene and to put it back in square one. The same sources claim that Dahlan is also hoping to be reinstated to his position in the West Bank government.
