Egyptian call for stronger measures against Israeli border aggression

February 20, 2014 at 3:34 pm

The Secretary General of Egypt’s Freedom and Justice Party has demanded that Essam Sharaf’s cabinet take stronger measures against Israeli aggression on the border with Egypt. Saad Al Katatny said that his country should follow Turkey’s example, which has expelled the Israeli ambassador following the Zionist state’s refusal to apologise for the Freedom Flotilla attack in May 2010.

In media statements, Mr Katatny praised Turkey’s stance and the measures it has started to take following the release of the UN Palmer report on the probe into the Freedom Flotilla incident. “Turkey has taught the Zionists a lesson in how to preserve one’s dignity through its decisive action,” he said.

Katatny welcomed the news about Turkey’s intentions to strengthen its armed forces in the Mediterranean Sea area, for the purposes of securing the oil and gas fields of the Cypriot coast. Turkey has also said that its armed forces will accompany future humanitarian aid convoys heading to Gaza in order to break the siege imposed by Israel.
