Erdogan warns Israel should it attack Gaza or Lebanon

Speaking in Beirut on Thursday (25.11.2010), Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, confirmed that Turkey would not “remain silent” should the Zionist Israel launch new attacks against either Lebanon or the Gaza Strip.

In an address at the annual gathering of the Union of Arab Banks in Lebanon, Erdogan asked; “Can [Israel] expect to go onto Lebanese soil with the latest aircraft and tanks killing women and children and destroying schools and hospitals and then ask us to remain silent?” He added, “Do you use the latest weapons; phosphorous shell and cluster bombs, and enter Gaza killing children as they play in fields and then ask us to remain silent?” Lebanese Prime Minister, Saad Hariri, was in attendance as Erdogan spoke.
 
During a visit to northern Lebanon yesterday, Erdogan confirmed Turkey’s continued support for the questions of Gaza and Jerusalem and renewed his demand for Israel to issue an apology over the massacre it perpetrated against Turkish supporters of Palestine aboard the Mavi Marmara earlier this year. He also hinted that should war presently break out in the Middle East, Israelis would be as much affected by it as other inhabitants of the region.
