Hamas claims that hundreds of journalists and dozens of media organisations are preparing to cover the Islamic Resistance Movement’s 23rd anniversary of its founding.
In a press release, the movement which is the democratically-elected Palestinian government said that 300 journalists and 70 local, Arab, and international media organisations are preparing for the anniversary programme to be held on Tuesday 14th December in Green Battalion Square, Gaza City.
“These media organisations have started their preparations days ahead of the festival,” said a spokesman. “Our media bureau has seen a high level of interest from journalists reserving their places to cover this national Islamic event.”
Hamas has said that the launch anniversary festival is a critical event awaited by the world. Analysts are watching with interest because it will give an indication of the movement’s strength and popular support despite the blockade and the efforts to weaken Hamas and its support. Leaders will take the opportunity to declare their stances on the key issues in the Palestinian arena.
