Islamic Council warns against new licences for Jewish museum in Muslim cemetery

February 20, 2014 at 3:33 pm

The legal advisor of the Supreme Islamic Council in occupied Palestine has warned the Israeli occupation authorities about building a Jewish museum in the historic Ma’man Allah Islamic cemetery in the occupied city of Jerusalem.

According to Mr Qais Nasser, the Municipality of occupied Jerusalem is considering a request for a new licence for the museum. It is expected to tell the district planning committee that it would like the application to be accepted.

The Supreme Islamic Council has submitted an urgent objection to the Jerusalem Municipality requesting the rejection of the request. The museum in question, said Mr Nasser, contravenes the planning and building regulations in force.

He explained that the Israeli company, which controls the areas confiscated from the cemetery about two months ago, has changed the specifications of the museum. As such, the Council has demanded the publication of the new plans and planning outline.
