Islamic deputies from the districts of Ramallah and Nablus have held ceremonies in honour of the Palestinian prisoners released in the recent prisoners exchange deal between Hamas and Israel.

On Wednesday, the deputies held a dinner for the freed prisoners from Nablus and the surrounding villages followed by an honorary ceremony at the main Life of Nablus Hall, while on Thursday, another event to honour prisoners from Ramallah was held at the Salim Effendi Hall.

The address on behalf of the prisoners from Nablus was given by Nidal Abd al-Haq, while that on behalf of the prisoners from Ramallah was delivered by long-term prisoner, Nael al-Barghouthi.

In a media statement, the deputies confirmed that the real honour for these heroes was their freedom as a culmination of years of patience. It stressed the need for them to be given all possible support in order to get on with their lives outside of prison.
