Israel launches air strikes and ground attack on the Gaza Strip

As the Western world continues to insist that the Palestinians give up resistance to Israel’s occupation and ongoing belligerence, the Zionist state has again attacked the Gaza Strip. It is almost two years since Israel’s vicious invasion of Gaza killed more than 1,400 people. Just hours after Israeli aircraft launched two strikes in southern Gaza early on Wednesday morning (8 December), Israeli armour opened fire on a residential neighbourhood in the east of Gaza City. A Palestinian family had a narrow escape when their home was hit by two artillery shells, causing structural damage and partially destroying their belongings. Witnesses expressed their surprise that their neighbourhood was a target for the Israeli forces. Three men were injured in a separate attack nearby.

In southern Gaza, F-16 aircraft are reported to have fired missiles into the densely-populated city of Khan Younis. The tunnels to Egypt, regarded by many independent observers as the “lifeline” of the Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip, were also targeted.
