Yesterday (08.03), the Rafidia Hospital in the West Bank city of Nablus received dozens of casualties from the south Nablus village of Qasra. The injured villagers were attacked by scores of Israeli settlers from the settlement of Yash Ed which is built on territory belonging to the Qasra village. The illegal settlement had been previously evacuated, but the settlers returned breaking into the village and attacking the locals.
Violent clashes erupted when the Palestinian villagers tried to defend themselves and their land against the settler assault. Many of the injured had either been shot or suffered gas asphyxiation.
Last Friday at dawn, Israeli settlers uprooted more than 500 olive trees from the territories of the Basalta region and stole them. The trees had been planted only the month before by the villagers as part of regional reforestation campaign aimed at protecting Basalta from settler attacks.
