Israel's Deputy PM says "massive" settlement activity imminent

February 20, 2014 at 3:31 pm

Israel’s Deputy Prime Minister has said that the coming days will witness “massive” settlement construction activity in three of the largest Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. In reports on an Israeli news website, Moshe Ya’alon claims that the Israeli government is ready to grant new building licences in the settlements of Ma’ale Adumim, Ariel and Efrat. “When the decision is made, you will see with your own eyes a huge amount of building activity,” boasted Ya’alon.

The Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs noted that the government’s policy is not to establish and build new settlements, “but to allow for more construction in the existing settlements, based on what was negotiated with the former US President George W. Bush”.
