The Commander of the Dubai Police, Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, has threatened to issue an international arrest warrant for Meir Dagan, the head of Israeli intelligence agency, Mossad, for his role in the assassination of the Hamas leader, Mahmod al-Mabhouh, in the Gulf emirate last January.
In the wake of the assassination operation, Khalfan called for external assistance in securing Dagan’s arrest should Mossad be conclusively implicated in the crime of Mabhouh’s assassination. This was later confirmed by subsequent investigations in which Emirate authorities revealed the involvement of no less than 30 people in the assassination operation.
Khlafan has said that “the head of Mossad, Meir Dagan, was forced to resign as Israel does not accept losers… it was up to Dagan to resign and save face when the Dubai police exposed his outfit following the Mabhouh assassination operation and the associated revelations including disclosures about the forging of passports worldwide.”
