Malta’s Foreign Minister, Tonio Borg, has issued a call for serious and tangible efforts to lift the blockade on the Gaza Strip.
During a short visit to the Strip on Friday, he promised his country’s financial assistance for several projects operated by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), as well as the fishing sector.
After a tour of the territory, Borg described the situation as unacceptable. He called for the immediate opening of Gaza’s border crossings and an improvement in the living conditions of its population.
Foreign Minister Borg visited a sewage plant in the northern Gaza Strip and the main fishing port. He said the European Union is especially obliged to translate its words into action to ensure that the blockade is lifted.
