Meshaal urges Abbas to reject foreign pressure

February 20, 2014 at 3:31 pm

The Hamas political leadership has urged the Palestinian President to reconsider his policies and choose resistance to Israel’s occupation as a priority. In a statement on 23rd November, Khaled Meshaal reiterated his belief that that the process to reach a peaceful agreement with Israel has failed and restated his movement’s support for “reshaping the Palestinian political stance to reject the Israeli position and foreign pressures that, for example, only determine a 90-day period for a West Bank settlement freeze”.

Speaking later at a Lebanon Independence Day celebration hosted by the Lebanese Embassy in Damascus, Mr. Meshaal stressed the keenness of Hamas to reconcile with Fatah in the meeting scheduled for the end of this month and bring an end to internal Palestinian division.
