A tree planting campaign was launched on Sunday, 27 March, in Nablus’ Samaa Gardens under the auspices of the Ministry of Prisoners’ Affairs to support Palestinian prisoners and former detainees in Israeli jails. The ceremony was presided over by the Minister for Prisoners’ Affairs in the West Bank, Mr Eesa Qaraqa’a, in the presence of a number of political figures, parliamentarians and family members of serving and former prisoners.

The attendees planted several trees for the prisoners in a symbolic act of support for their cause, as well as a reminder to the world of their condition. Organizers of the campaign say it is intended also to serve as a message of hope to the incarcerated; that a day would come when all detainees would be freed from the occupation’s jails.
