Palestinian General Certificate of Secondary Education results published

On Sunday 24 July, Palestine’s Ministry of Education announced the release of this year’s results for the General Certificate of Secondary Education in Palestine. Students from across the West Bank, who had been keenly anticipating their results, flocked to their respective institutions to pick up their certificates over the weekend. The results were received with a variety of emotions; happiness and joy for those who had excelled, and sadness and tears for those who had not done so well.


Altogether, 87396 examinations were taken this year with 50608 passes. For students regularly enrolled in education, there was a 58.6% pass rate in the human sciences, 78.1% in the sciences, and 60% in the vocational subjects. The pass rate among the 16354 non-regular students was 36.2%.

The overall examination pass rate was 57.7%; 58.6% in literary subjects, 58.1% in science subjects, 60% in vocational subjects and 36% in special subjects. Students that succeeded in passing these exams will now be able to apply to university to study a range of disciplines.
