On Tuesday 3rd May, settlers from the Yitzhar settlement in the northern West Bank burned down the prayer room of Hawara Village boy’s secondary school. Eye witness reports state that the 80m² structure was burnt down by a group of settlers returning from a visit to Joseph’s Tomb in the city of Nablus. Residents of Hawara brought the blaze under control and eventually extinguished it.
This attack is one in a series of on-going attacks perpetrated by settlers across the West Bank targeting Palestinians, their property and their places of worship. It is worth mentioning here that forces of the occupation periodically close off the entrances to Palestinian villages for settlers to organise protests along various roads. These protests usually end in attacks on Palestinians.
