A delegation of Palestinians who live in Israel is visiting Libya at the invitation of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi. The group is expected to hold a meeting with the leader in the Libyan capital, Tripoli.

The delegation has 40 members, including Arab members of the Israeli parliament, party leaders, public figures and journalists, in addition to the leader of the Islamic Movement, Sheikh Raed Salah and representatives of the Druze Initiative Committee.

A private aircraft flew the delegates from Amman, Jordan, to Libya where they were treated as VIPs and met on the red carpet by a party of high-level Libyan officials. After the formal welcome, the delegates were taken to Tripoli, bypassing passport control and security checks, emphasising the high esteem in which they are held by the Libyan authorities.
