Ehud Barak cancels Paris visit fearing arrest

February 27, 2014 at 4:31 am

Israel’s Defence Minister has cancelled a visit to France out of concern that he will be arrested on arrival in Paris. Ehud Barak was warned that pro-Palestine activists intend to file a lawsuit against him on behalf of activists who took part in the Gaza Freedom Flotilla. The move was announced by Khalid Al-Shouli, the head of the French Committee for Charity and Support for the Palestinians (CCSP). According to Mr. Al-Shouli, a team of French lawyers, including Lilian Glob and Gildo Faer, are preparing an indictment to be presented to judicial bodies in France.

Mr. Barak was due to make a two-day visit to Paris where he was to inaugurate the Israeli stand at an international military exhibition and meet with the French defence and foreign ministers.
