Israeli government's pressure on Hamas regarding Shalit is "nonsense"

February 27, 2014 at 5:06 am

An Israeli organization campaigning for the release of Gilad Shalit, the Israeli soldier captured by Hamas, has condemned the Israeli government for releasing a leading member of the Islamic Resistance Movement. Mohammed Abu Tir was released from prison after serving his sentence of three and a half years.

In a quote on Hebrew radio, the head of Struggle for Shalit, Samson Lipman, said, “The release of Mohammed Abu Tir indicates that the talk about pressure for the release of Shalit is rubbish and nonsense.” Lipman added, “It’s time to stop the treason against Shalit and understand that he won’t be released unless hundreds of Palestinian prisoners are also released.”
