A minister in the Israeli cabinet threatened to launch a new war on the Gaza Strip with the aim or destroying the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas. This came after Hamas’s Qassam Brigades announced its responsibility for the killing of two Israeli soldiers after Israeli forces advanced into Khan Younis Friday evening.
Israeli Minister of Finance Yuval Steinitz said on Israel Radio on Sunday that Israel would reoccupy Gaza and destroy the Islamic Hamas regime that rules the Strip if it felt it had no other choice.
Steinitz warned of further Hamas armament and said that “Israel won’t allow Hamas to arm with long-range missiles.”
Also, the Israeli minister considered the US pressure on Israel to be “useless and unfair,” noting that the deterioration US-Israeli relations will not lead to the softening of Palestinian positions, but on the contrary, it will make it even tougher, he said.
