The mother and grandmother of number of five prisoners in the occupation’s prisons died yesterday in the town of Beit Hanoun.

According to Palestinian media sources, Ward Abdel Karim Abu Odah, from Beit Hanoun, in the northern Gaza Strip, died at the age of 65 years. Ward Abu Odah is the mother of the prisoners Asaad Fahmi and Saieed Fahmi, who are jailed with their children: Fahmy, Salah, and Ghassan. The detainees were arrested last year from Gaza and still awaiting trial.

According to the sources, Ward Abu Salah endured many hardships and set the best examples of patience and steadfastness, as she witnessed the demolition of her home twice, in 1969 and 2001. Her husband was detained between 1970 and 1972. Later Ward’s husband suffered a stroke and died as a result. Adding to that, Ward had to have her leg amputated after deterioration of her health as a result of being denied treatment by the Israeli Authority.
