Moussa invites Security Council to stop Israeli attacks on Al-Aqsa

February 28, 2014 at 10:47 am

The Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Amr Moussa, warned of the serious consequences of the raid carried out on Sunday morning (25/10) morning by the Israeli Occupying Forces on Al-Aqsa mosque.

Moussa appealed to the UN Security Council – in an urgent statement – to intervene immediately to stop the Israeli aggression against Al Aqsa Mosque. He also asked the Council to hold Israel responsible for escalating the situation and its expected results of tension and violence which will add more fuel to the tense situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territories and the whole region.

Mousa called for the cessation of the Israeli aggression, lifting the siege imposed on Al-Aqsa Mosque and the immediate release of the mosque’s guards and worshipers who were arrested earlier. He also condemned the Israeli operation and described it as a serious violation of Al-Aqsa Mosque’s sanctity.

The Arab League’s Secretary General added that Israel’s serious and continuous violations of Al Aqsa Mosque’s sanctity which are associated with the escalation of settlements, the demolition of Jerusalem houses, and the seizure of Palestinian property in East Jerusalem, “are pointing out to a dangerous spiral which the current Israeli government is following and providing protection for settlers and extremist Jewish groups whose intentions to storm the Jerusalem’s flashpoint Al-Aqsa Mosque are not concealed”.
