Palestinian Authority condemns Israel's threats against the Gaza Strip

March 8, 2014 at 4:52 pm

The Palestinian Authority Cabinet condemned on Tuesday Israel’s daily threats against the Gaza Strip, warning that Israel’s racist violations will undermine the peace process.

The cabinet, led by Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah, welcomed during its weekly meeting in Ramallah the Jerusalem Committee’s decisions during its 20th meeting held in Marrakesh. In addition, the cabinet voiced its support for the Arab Parliamentary Union’s meeting in Kuwait, which called on the Arab and Islamic countries to fulfil their financial obligations to support the Palestinian Authority’s budget deficits and to protect Jerusalem against Israel’s plans to Judaise the holy city.

On the latter subject, the cabinet also condemned Israel’s recent decision to build 381 new housing units in the settlement of Givat Zeev, located five kilometres northwest of Jerusalem, saying that the move aims to Judaise the entire city of Jerusalem and to impose a new status quo on the ground.

The cabinet called on all Palestinian and international solidarity groups to continue lobbying for humanitarian aid for the entrapped Palestinian civilians in the Yarmouk refugee camp in Syria, and to evacuate all those who need to leave. It also requested for the Palestinian groups in Syria to remain neutral and to avoid involving themselves in the internal affairs of Arab countries.

Finally, the cabinet announced that it has been working to retrieve the bodies of the Palestinian martyrs held by Israel and to uncover the fate of those still missing.
