The National and Islamic Committee for Palestinian Prisoners has congratulated the International Red Cross on its 150th anniversary. Representatives of the committee made their comments when they visited the Red Cross headquarters in Gaza, which is holding an exhibition of photographs of its humanitarian activities.

During the visit, the prisoners’ committee said that the voice of humanity is always victorious over the voice of killing, violence, imprisonment, maltreatment and bad healthcare. “The voice of reason is always victorious over the voice of solitary confinement and administrative detention as carried out by the Israeli occupation authorities,” they declared.

The committee used the anniversary of the Red Cross to call on the international organisation to broaden its humanitarian action to help alleviate the suffering of Palestinian prisoners and their families, who face what they described as “racist policies” by the Israelis.

The celebration programme was attended by the Director of the Red Cross Mission in Gaza, Christian Cardon, and a representative of the Palestinian government, Basim Na’eem, along with many local activists and journalists.
