The Egyptian foreign ministry has summoned the Senegalese ambassador in Cairo to express his protest against a senior official in Senegal using the Rabaa sign in the Senegalese capital of Dakar, Arab news media widely reported on Thursday.

Sayed Ali, a senior aide to Senegalese President Macky Sall, made the four-fingered Rabaa sign with his hand while receiving a delegation of anti-coup Egyptians visiting his country to discuss the brutal crackdown that is happening in Egypt.

The Egyptian delegation is currently on an international tour, meeting with foreign officials to speak about the oppression that their fellow citizens in Egypt are facing from the military-backed authorities under the leadership of Field Marshal Abdul-Fattah Al-Sisi.

After the meeting in Dakar, the Egyptian delegation said it was very fruitful and thanked the Senegalese officials for showing their support for the legitimacy of ousted Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi. They also expressed their appreciation of Senegalese hospitality.
