Fatah to dismiss friends of Dahlan

April 9, 2014 at 11:26 am

Any member of Fatah who remains in contact with former movement leader Mohamed Dahlan will be dismissed, Jamal Muheisen, a member of the Central Committee of Fatah, revealed.

In an exclusive statement to Al-Resalah, a Palestinian news website, on Wednesday, Muheisen said: “The next stage will be very important for Fatah, from which the movement will seek to unite its internal lines and dismiss each element who poses a threat to it.”

He explained that a special internal committee has been formed to discuss and consider the movement’s internal situation, developing urgent and practical solutions to reform them, and dismissing any element who has relationship with Dahlan.

Muheisen pointed out that the aim of this step was to unite the movement lines so as to face the internal and external challenges it faces and get the movement up on its feet again.

The divisions between Abbas and Dahlan, who has a powerful influence in Egypt, have widened, in spite of mediation efforts to end the dispute, because Abbas insists on the need to hold Dahlan accountable for his excesses.

Dahlan and his team have been working to launch an unprecedented media attack against Abbas, in coordination with media professionals who are working for him through their own media outlets.

Dahlan sought a security team to target Arab and Palestinian leaders in order to obtain political documents to uncover the position of Abbas and embarrass him politically in front of the world.
