Iran to continue supporting Syrian regime

Iran will continue supporting and protecting the Syrian regime against Western powers and their allies in the Middle East region, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani told Iranian media on Monday after his meeting with his Syrian counterpart Mohammad Jihad Al-Laham.

Al-Laham is visiting Tehran to participate in the ninth Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States.

Iran’s state news agency IRNA reported that Larijani praised the Syrian people for defending the resistance axis against the major powers and their allies, stressing that developments in Syria are improving due to the steadfastness of the Syrian government and people.

For his part, Al-Laham expressed his pleasure to be visiting Iran to participate in the OIC meeting and hailed the Islamic Republic for working to strengthen and consolidate the Islamic countries and solving their problems.

He also thanked the Iranian people for their support of the Syrian people.
