A Palestinian man has been charged with collaborated with the Israeli occupation and sentenced to 15 years in prison, judicial source in the Gaza Strip said on Thursday.

“The culprit was connected with the Israeli occupation in 2008 during his work as a fisherman in the Mediterranean, off the Gaza coast,” the source said. “He was at first kidnapped from the sea in 2007 and then started collaboration in 2008.”

The collaborator used to place money in different secret locations as a reward for other collaborators in return for them carrying out missions against Palestinian fighters.

According to the source, which spoke to the local Palestinian news agency Safa, the collaborator reported several houses of fighters in Gaza, mainly in the coastal areas. The source said the man received a reduced sentence because he had not caused the death of any Palestinians.

The sentence may be appealed.
