Barghouti says Arab Social Democratic Forum adopts boycott of Israel

April 12, 2014 at 1:02 pm

General Secretary of the Palestinian National Initiative Mustafa Barghouti announced that the Arab Social Democratic Forum, which was held this week in the Jordanian capital of Amman, has adopted a draft resolution to boycott Israel.

Palestinian Quds Net agency quoted Barghouti as saying: “The forum has unanimously decided to adopt the draft resolution put forward by the Palestinian National Initiative on Jerusalem and to boycott and divest from Israel, support the Palestinian popular resistance and the Palestinian people’s just struggle against the Israeli occupation and settlements.”

Bargouti pointed out that the forum’s decision represents a great achievement for the popular resistance and the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement, stressing that the Arab delegations, which represent 13 different states, have all agreed to establish a boycott and divestment committee in each of the Arab countries.

He added that the forum also decided to devote 2014 as a year of solidarity with the Palestinian people and to focus its agenda on: resisting Israel’s attempts to Judaise Jerusalem, supporting the Palestinian struggle for self-determination and working to establish the Palestinian capital in Jerusalem.

The Palestinian delegation to the forum included Barghouti’s Palestinian National Initiative and representatives from Al-Fatah movement headed by Nabil Shaath.
