Egyptian Ministry of Defence and July 3 military coup leader Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi announced on Wednesday his presidency bid, saying that his “campaign will not be traditional”.
In a televised speech broadcast on Egyptian media Wednesday evening, Al-Sisi expressed his hope that he would be able to “change Egypt to the better” despite the challenges.
Al-Sisi stressed that Egyptians are facing daunting challenges, particularly the ongoing economic, security and political woes.
Al-Sisi said he acknowledges the obstacles facing state agencies, which should be firmly addressed.
He reiterated that the “future roadmap” “should be implemented at this critical time of the nation’s history”, and that the first phase, namely the constitution, has already been finalized. The next step, Al-Sisi added, will be the presidential elections followed by parliamentary elections.
