Former FJP MP: pro-coup countries now backing off

April 12, 2014 at 12:19 pm

Former member of the Egyptian Parliament and FJP foreign relations official Dr Abdel-Mawgoud Al-Dardery said that a number of countries that supported the July 3 military coup are now backing off.

In an interview with Al-Jazeera channel Friday, Al-Dardery said that the US is divided over the coup in Egypt. “The Pentagon and the State Department support the coup, while the Congress and the National Security Council oppose it.”

Lately, Al-Dardery said, the US Administration and think-tanks along with the German Foreign Ministry approached the Anti-Coup Alliance regarding its vision for the resolution of the current crisis. “The Germans view July 3 as a coup against democracy,” he added.
