Hamas: Ready to implement reconciliation agreements 'as signed'

April 12, 2014 at 12:58 pm

Hamas is ready to commence the implementation of reconciliation agreements signed between the Palestinian factions as long as Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas stops being “selective” about which policies he wishes to apply.

Hamas spokesman Sami abu-Zuhri said: “We are ready to carry out the reconciliation agreements literally. We call upon Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas to give up the policy of selectivity.”

At the Arab Summit in Kuwait, Abbas said he is “committed to implementing the agreements calling for the formation of a transition government and for holding elections. We agreed on this in Doha and Cairo. We are waiting for results of contacts [with Hamas].”

Earlier, Hamas invited the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, to hold a mini-Arab summit to implement the Palestinian reconciliation and welcomed Doha’s willingness to host the event.
